My name is Katie and I am the founder and lead tutor at Superstar Learners. I graduated from Sheffield Hallam in 2016 and have been teaching ever since! I have experience teaching in all year groups in KS2 and Years 7-11 in KS3 + KS4 English.

I hold a Master’s degree in Education, where I developed a strong understanding of child development, learning behaviours, and the emotional factors that can impact a child’s relationship with school.

Through both my academic training and hands-on experience, I have worked closely with children experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), supporting them through periods of anxiety, low confidence, and disengagement from education.

This has given me a deep appreciation for how complex and individual each child’s experience can be. I understand that EBSA is not simply about reluctance to attend school - it is often rooted in genuine emotional distress, which requires patience, empathy, and a carefully tailored approach.

In my work, I combine evidence-informed strategies with a calm, nurturing presence to help children feel safe, understood, and gradually more open to learning again.

I also recognise the emotional weight this can place on parents. My aim is not only to support your child, but to work alongside you - offering guidance, reassurance, and a clear path forward during what can often feel like an overwhelming time.

My passion is to help improve students who need that confidence boost with their areas of development. I am proud to have witness many students going from fearing learning at school to beaming with confidence and gaining a new found love of learning.

I have an engaging teaching style, which is linked with my love of acting and performing. I love to dance and sing; I love anything to do with musical theatre!
